    Two Questions + Poll:

    1) Presentation - What does everyone think about throwing artificial baits in the surf during the grunion runs vs. baits with a uv glow - either made to glow or painted with a uv glow finish? I'm thinking about experimenting with some glow added to hard and maybe some soft plastics.

    2) Timing - I'm going to be in the surf this weekend and I know it's a couple of days before the ideal grunion run. Is it that big of a difference fishing a night or two before the new or full moon, probably before the grunion show?

And check out the poll !!!
    Thanks.

I would recommend anything that's fast moving and flashy.

What do you think about live ghost shrimp at night too? I'm thinking about trying that out if all else fails.

The hardbaits with knockers or rattles will attract the fish more than the glow.

Also you forgot to put in shallow divers in the poll.

Jerkbaits and live bait.. I am of the opinion that fish will eat almost any available food when they are present and actively feeding.. I don't feel like a live smelt in the middle of a bunch of grunion would get ignored, if anything, anything that stands out will get snatched up first.. Hell, even a ghost or strip of clam meat has a good chance to get snatched up, IMO

Cool. I've been wanting to try them in the surf but they're hard enough to keep on the hook just in the bay. So going to get creative with looping the line around them after hooking. Maybe throw one of these guys out with one, and throw some plastics with the other.

I'd love to flyline a grunion but that'll have to wait a while longer... I was out for the three weekends in March and just couldn't find them.

I was thinking about bringing some irons, wasn't sure about them in the surf though. Have you had luck with them?
