NMB 08:00 - 10:30 am. Finally busted after 4 in a row 0 fers. 3 YFC's, so at least a KOTB qualifier, 2 SNGF's, both about 24", was hoping they were something else and then a nice size spotfin to get on the KOTB board. Was hoping to get a perch qualifier but the rascals were elusive. They were there, doing their hit & run routine Even downsized my hook and still could not put one on the sand. Nice conditions, plenty of sc's but salted/frozen blood worms were effective today. 20210723_094757_01.jpg 20210723_083115.jpg

Man... Nice fish. That YFC would become live bait in LJ for me

What would you target with a 10 inch YFC live bait from the shore? Is it mainly for sharks or rays?

Quite a number of fish will eat YFC. I run mono usually, so if a big shark grabs it, I can just shear it off...

Today was my third skunk on those little buggers. Fresh shrimp, and gulp sandworm combo on a high, Low rig proved fruitless for anything but salad. Going to try some North county beaches next. Mission Beach has been a bust for me.

Maybe try somewhere other than MB? PB been good to me, only a tad north of transportation is an issue. But seriously, all beaches have been hit n miss. I have to to go certain beaches for certain species. Before this year, MB had everything I needed at different times every day. So now I get to waste tons of gas cus MB has been horrible with salad, and when there’s no salad it seems there are no fish to be had.
