1st day back on the paddleboard in san diego. Had the intention to target shallow halibut and then venture around for some spotties. Tide topped out around 6:30am and i got there around 7am. Worked the "shallows" 5-8' (still deeper than anything ive fished in the last 6 months) and wasn't seeing much. Last cast before moving to the channel edges and of course not paying attention, lead to a 21-22" halibut! Next stop was the channel edge, 1st cast got a 12-14" spottie and followed back with a ~10-12" spottie. I could feel the wind picking up so i moved closer to the launch site and managed 2 or 3 more spotties 10-12" before getting off the water.

Havent acclimated to the change in gear yet, moving a 10' anchor pole, 1 rod, 1 fish and a paddle, while turning on the 2nd camera was a biff of a SNAFU

Nice video and fish. Spotty looks especially thick. Curious, how far do you paddle on a average? And max?

in san diego i do on average 3-5 miles, max of about 6-8.

Yesterday was just under 4 miles round trip.

"I am a moron, guys, straight moron......"

That soft halibut take is so deceiving. Same thing happened to me ten days ago, a couple hundred yards from where you were fishing. Felt a very slight weight....Darn eelgra...wait, what, wham....

Were you fishing in front of the Fiddler's Cove Marina last Saturday? Carpkiller and I may have seen you from our float tubes.

Would you mind giving us a tow back to our launch point next time after the bite dies? It would only be 2 guys in float tubes.

    Nice pics.

the sup angler in front of the cove on Saturday was me!
was looking for a halibut and found one eventually elsewhere, but not quite as big as Bass Kid ’s though.
my tow rates are reasonable :)
