Finally got to Barrett this season for some end of the season bassin. As usual, it did not disappoint. Got to the lake around 8:30 and rented a boat with a couple buddies. This was a much later start than anticipated, but sometimes random events get in the way and put a fork in your plans....So it goes! Pulled up to a spot just around the corner from the dock area and RippinLip619 immediately hooks up on two bass in a row. Definitely fun to watch and I was stoked to be back at the B. I figured "oh its gonna be one of those days" and was pleasantly reminded that bass fishing never works like that....you really do gotta figure em out first!

I started the morning off trying various reaction baits all for nada and finally decided to slow it down with some creature bait presentations. My downfall was fishing a lighter weight. After not getting bit for an hour (which seems like forever when you're watching your mates catch em) I had to make some sort of adjustment. Scratching my head, I decided to try something a little different and threw on a punching rig with a heavier weight. This was the key! With the heavier presentation, my day took off and I was catching bass every few minutes. When lunch came around, the sun was blaring and we all agreed it was time to refuel. We put together quite a feast for the event lol.

Got back out and fished a Tokyo rig pretty exclusively and got right back into a consistent bite. What a cool rig! Hopefully this works half as well at other lakes in SD.

We finished the day with almost 50 fish for the boat. A little bit slower (which I always laugh at knowing that is an insane day anywhere else) than we have experienced in the past, but a lot of quality fish came out of the water.

Dang, all those wasted calories. Ditch those vegies and add some peach cobbler. Nicely done.

What time is "lunch" again please do contact me?!

If that's a Barrett meal, what do you do for dinner? Waygu beef with filet mignon served with farm fresh veggies with a salmon salad etc - so sad to compare my later lunch at work today...left over sub sandwich...hahaaaa...

Hahaha y’all are cracking me up! That lunch was amazing no doubt. Definitely kept us energized for the rest of the day. Gotta throw out some props to RippinLip619 for all the dope camping gear to make that happen.

Dylan 101 the Tokyo rig worked fantastic out there. Two 1/4 oz bullets was the $$

It’s definitely not far off. My best guess on the difference would be the swivel attached to the hook. So the bait goes more vertical as it it falls or perhaps looks more natural? Didn’t try a short bubba, but a standard drop shot definitely worked on a few fish
