I was curious if anyone knew how the water level at Barrett is looking? Per the city lakes water levels page, it says that Barrett is currently at 31.5% capacity. I could have sworn that the water level was around 35% give or take a % around the time the lake closed at the end of September of last year.

I had heard that they were going to start drawing down the lake again once some repair was made at the dam. Anyone have any info on this?

I will be flying over Barrett next week on my return flight. I will try and get some pictures of the lake and post them when I get home. I always sit on the left side of the plane so I can check it out as I fly back to SD. Also get a good view of Otay as we fly in.

Bummer.. down a little from last year. Hoping they aren't draining it.

Just being down a little bit would likely kill that lush region in the back of hauser for 2019.

That info scares me a bit. The only way to raise that level, other than a sudden influx of rain, is to take it from Morena. Let us pray. :emoji_cry::emoji_pray:

Some weather lady states the ground is already saturated which should help. Hoping this next set of storms does its thing. Consistent water levels is supposed to be the best for the habitat but I'd like to get another 10 of 15 feet up the banks from last year to add in a ton of additional cover.

Probably have to rain 6 inches to make a difference but I welcome any and all rain at this point.

As of February 4 the lake was 32% full. We need a lot more rain and no water taken out.

Water will be drawn. Too much special interest and money to be had. I imagine there is some rare indangered, invasive amphibian that will need 1000s of gallons below the dam to survive too...

looks like Barrett will take a direct hit tomorrow with 2-3 inches of rain in the next few days. I like it!

Yep, the ground is definitely saturated so we are making up water level as we speak. The air photo shown above showed the first little sand and stick island south of Pigs out of water. I'm betting that will be back under after this weekend, then we'll start gaining a little ground on where we were last year. And we weren't very far from a whole lot if extra good cover! Cheers!
