    I have a Mercury 30hp fourstroke EFI. I have a 12v 40 thrust trolling motor.
Is it possible to use both batteries to make a 24v and up grade to a bigger trolling motor. Meanwhile still hook up the starter, live well and graphs on the same batteries?

Nope. Starting and electronics are 12V.

    Ok. Follow up question.
Can I hook up two 12v batteries to make one big 12v battery and run everything off that?
If so, will the trolling motor have longer life for the day with the double battery?

1229191651-00.jpg You could run 2 , 12 volts in series and create 24 . you would need to just use the + - on one of the 12 volts for everything else . It will not change the 24 end positive , it would however be difficult to have the charging system put out the required charge for 24 . you would need to charge the batteries with individual wires to each B + B- of each 12 v . Wish I had a way of drawing a Schematic here but you could make it work if the charge system puts out enough amperage . Lets see , trolling motor B+ and B- on 2 each 12 volts wired series + - + - . Accessories and starting to B+ B- of 1 ea 12 volt .Split the Charge wire to allow B+ B- on each 12 separately skipping the series for charging at a 12 volt rate . Ohms law and path of least resistance will allow it to work . Many electric golf cars Etc have 12 and 24 volt accessories wired to a 48 volt battery pack consisting of 8 each 6 volts wired in series Same Idea Add Shi#y photo of drawing it would look like this . Very easy to do . the wires of however many 12 volts would be all the positives on 1 ea circuit and all of the negatives hooked together on the other , its called wiring in Parallel . Hope this helps , WR

This would be your best option so no 24/12v converter is needed. However, Keep in mind wire size...the amount of amperage a wire can handle is based on gauge. Think of it like a water hose...the water is the voltage and the water pressure is the amperage. Increasing the water pressure may require a heavier hose.

If doing the parallel wiring, will my two bank charger be an issue?

Wiring Parallel you will still have a 12 volt system although a Larger battery bank . The important part is the output of the charger being enough to do it in a timely manner . WR
