Dollar for dollar who makes the best rod for the money? All Star, Fenwick, Falcon etc...? I need some new rods but don't know where to look for them in San Diego. All the chain stores have junk rods.

Shimano Clarus rods. For $60 you can't beat the value. Lifetime warranty, light, lite, strong and sensitive rods.

    I second that.
For the money...they are very difficult to beat.

I have two, one piece, 7 foot spinning rods that are the Clarus. A ML and a L action.
Absolutely the bomb for surf fishing Corbina, SFC, and throwing little crankbaits for bass...here is an 8lb'er I got on the ML action and a Cultiva Mira-Shad a while back at Cuyamaca:

Yup, just about all of the rods in Shimano's line-up. But, I also like the St. Croix rods too.

That would be 3 votes for the Shimano Clarus. I own 7 of them...money to value IMO nothing is better!

Do you see a pattern here?

Powell makes a nice high end rod at a respectable price.

I'm a little partial but if you are buying on a budget I'd say shimano does make some good rods for the money.

But if you are going to spend money for a good rod check out quantums new superlite series or Dobyns rods both are great.

I've heard really good thing about g-blanks as well. You can call them and have the rod made for you if you choose to.

Powell or Dobyns both designed by the west coast all time money leader G Dobyns. Not to mention one has a signature line with Mike LongB)

Yeah Shimano Clarus. Love the action and sensitivity but I really like the lifetime warranty. I accidently snapped one or my rods and got it replaced with a new one.
