Probably just a fluke, but I'm calling it best Fall fishing in years. Late November and perfect beach weather, air 75 degrees with 65 degree water full of anchovies, birds crashing in the shallows various times during the day today.

Caught a bunch of calico bass and caught a few halibut. Went surfing then ran home to grab the rod again when the crashing birds returned. Some photos from today.

Lately we've done plenty of "Heavenly Halibut" - broiled in butter, mayo, parmesan cheese ... it's goooooood.

Cmon down! The best part of the day was watching halibut sliding around chasing darting schools of anchovies in 1 - 2' of water!!! I was 9' up a rock looking down into crystal clear water. I dropped the fluke in a few times and finally got-bit-set-hook-headshake-came-unbuttoned in a split second, damn that fish was a nice one too. Maybe the same one I ended up catching. Never know. Amazing how fast all of these fish move with the anchovy schools and birds covering a mile of beach in 30 minutes.

Maybe there will be more days like this to come but the surf picked up a lot today, and no birds, plus foggy later on ... (I was in OB playing in a vball tournament with my daughter all day.)

    Thanks for the idea.

Nice fish, excellent work man. I do the same thing checking a couple surf cams at my home beach.
