I'm gonna be spending some time on Crystal Pier soon, And would like to know the closest place to buy blood worms.... I have never seen them at the bait shop on the pier... I usually just use sand crabs while surf fishing when I am there, but would like to give blood worms a try... I could try ghost shrimp as well, but I don't think I want to drag my pump down there with me... If I could buy them, that would work out ok too... Thanks for any help...

I believe the tackle stores at the two landings in Mission Bay, (Seaforth and Dana) usually have frozen ghost shrimp for sale. Give them a call beforehand.

Yea, They are my favorite surf fishing bait, but being unfamiliar with the San Diego Bays, I didn't want to spend time looking for them... I usually just spend the early AM and some evenings surf fishing, the rest of the day is "Family Time"... AND I'm not sure that my wife would appreciate me dragging a lot of mud into her 2 week old car :emoji_punch: :emoji_smirk:...

Squidco has had bloodworms in the past. Not terribly far from PB...

I have the Gulp Camo Surf Worms, and always bring them along... I all so have a stock of salted, freeze dried blood worms that I make out of my leftover bait... They work about as good as fresh worms, and are tougher and last longer on the hook.. They look like pieces of leather boot laces, until they re-hydrate... And they do catch fish... If walking was an option to the shrimp pumping spot, I would think about giving that a try... I just don't want to take my wife's new car..

They are effective, probably not as good as live ones, I know they don't stay on the hook as well as fresh ones do. Use some elastic thread if you have to use frozen stuff, I would say

I salt and freeze blood worms, I wonder if salting, drying and freezing them would work... It really works well with the worms...

Thanks guys. I’ll either bring my freeze dried worms, or try Squidco. Thanks for the help.

Seaforth has them! Go to their tackle shop where the sport fishing is.

Not always, call ahead. They also charge too much, $8 half dozen, $14 doz. Squidco better deal, $10/doz I recall.
