Hello everyone! It's been awhile. I am looking to go on a charter boat for my birthday. Looking for preferably 3/4 Day or Full Day. A good half day would be sufficient though. Looking to get on some fish, doesn't matter what, but I'd love to catch some yellowtail. I know yellowtail haven't been the best lately so I'm checking the Fish Counts. I have been looking at either H&M Landing or Point Loma Sportfishing. H&M is what I'm leaning to. What are your suggestions?

Well for starters the Premier is a tank of a boat... ask for Stinger to drive and you're good.

If you go the Point Loma sportfishing route, I would recommend the Mission Belle with Tony at the helm. There are some yellowtail creeping into our local waters and if you do go out to the 9 it's something he will enjoy. The deckhands who work the board on the Mission Belle are a bit more customer service centered... so more talk with the customer and do a really good job on the board. Taught by Karen who by far cuts yellowtail better then anyone I've seen.

Point Loma/Mission Belle/Daily Double for the close boats. Old Glory, Pacific Queen, or Condor for the longer range boats.

Have you considered heading north a bit? You can fish 3/4 and full day at sci, catalina etc. Prices are about half of sd landings, you save on Mexico's fees and have a good chance at getting live squid for bait. Go on a trip stay in a hotel then go the next day again for about the same price as 1 trip in sd. Happy b-day!

They all are pretty good. But the free and plentiful parking at Seaforth is a major plus for me.

Thanks for the birthday wishes. I haven't even looked at options a little more north. I am centrally located in Temecula. An hour to Dana Point area and an hour to downtown SD. I would be willing to look a little more north but from what I've heard, The 3 charters out of Shelter are good. How far north you thinking?

Free parking at 22nd St. If you can, those overnight runs to the outer islands can be amazing.. mix some tanker bonito with big rockfish and a couple nice yellows.. just stay away from the Groupon and discount runs at all cost.. anything like ten dollar off Monday, free kid Wednesday, anything offered on coupon or discount, like that 3/4 out of Davey's Locker.. stay away from it...

Is there anything good out of Oceanside Harbor? When I'm down there eating lunch I see an occasional charter stopping at the bait barge.
