Still the size of a lot of mullet.. bonefish are straight silver for the most part.

Hmm..... All the ones I've seen are noticeably striped. But it could definitely have been mullet.

Note: the small Bone is from outside Quivera....The larger models are from LJ......

Thought a pic would show the difference better.......

    Along with Bonito what about:
    Barracuda (ice a must)
Halibut (with intent to eat it raw)
Sheephead (smelly if not put on ice)
Mackerel (yes many people eat these, and raw too)
Jack Mackerel(aka Spanish Mack) - some say taste better than Yellowtail, my ancestors actually get more excited about these than YT

I will argue that all fish need to be slapped on ice or put in RSW. I probably go above and beyond and am OCD about my post catch care.

For many, my post care prep will go un-noticed. Perhaps because all their fish is fried. For my family and friends who benefit from my luck/bounty from the sea, they will notice a firm, cold, clear eyed fish with a thin bloodline. Also my Tunas, Bonito and Yellowtail will also be gutted and gilled

That’s me. I would hope others treat their catch the same way. But when I hear that they bled their fish by a simple gill clip, I know otherwise.

When you see people catching Bonito try:

1/4-1oz - Gold or Silver Kastmaster
    3/4 or 1.5oz- Megabait (Squidco or ?)
    43,60,80,100g- ColtSniper (all colors)

Basically anything shiny. Cast, let it sink and reel in. Or let it sink reel, pause, reel. Or vary your retrieve until you find what they want.

I prefer silver castmaster, Sardine or Anchovie resembling Megabait or ColtSniper.

    Good luck

    It floats
One of the best seared sashimi, immediately gill, then gut. Pack on ice for 24hrs before you even think of putting a knife to then

Ps...... any fish you catch should be treated the same

Thank you. I’m amazed at the friendly, helpful people that I’ve met on this site. I would be there in a New York minute but I’m taking Shinna on a long anticipated trip to Cabo!! She deserves to catch some big fish after putting up with me for all these years. I hope she can get a fish of a lifetime.
I plan on getting in touch with you and
Coach and hopefully you’ll let me tag along on an outing when we get back.
Thank you again. I very much appreciate the opportunity to fish with you.
