I have watched it a few times and I still can't beleave how he fights that fish. He has 850 over 10 lbs. He has to know what he is doing.
I'm going to set up a video on my boat and show how I land my 2 lbers.

That mofo is insane. Although I believe in the horsing. I throw swimbaits almost exclusively now and when you finally do get bit I have found the best method to land the fish is to take no chances and net the mofo ASAP. You are using 25lb test for a reason. make it work for you.

I have watched the videos on the Huddleston site and man He is quick with his catches. He inspired me this last weekend to take my full on tripod out with me.

I like the idea of the video rolling while bringing in the 2 pounders. Make sure you make it look like a good fight.

Actually if you watch the film you will notice that the fish pretty much ran at the boat. I have noticed this with the few big fish i have caught....they run strait at you and then jump! That is why they can shake the hook, they are masters at it. When they are that size they can REALLY swim fast! That is why i am a big believer in fast ratio reels (6:1-7:1) for big fish as opposed to slower ratio (5:1). You have to be able to make up ground on them or it is bye-bye!

What I think is amazing, well, besides the size of that fish, the quantity of fish BB consistantly lands, and his strong arm landing technique is the fact that it appears he does no modification to the hudd's.

Guys I know who throw the hudd alot, cut the big hook then rig some heavy duty braid to a lg size treble or use hvy duty split rings, swivels and a huge treble. But not BB he stays with the stock product and just stick'ems and flip'ems right into the net before they even know what hit them, insane!

Can anyone tell how he is fishing the hud? Kind of looks like he is dragging it or bumping the bottom.

    that last line is classic!

butch had a bunch of his custom huds he uses at the bassathon this past year. he fishes them all kinds of ways. almost all his baits are tricked out beyond belief. {red pipe cleaners glued into the gills, tricked out fins, open mouths} they all look sick. he puts his time in and reeps the reward for doin so. my hats off to him!

a buddy of mine sent him an e mail asking him how he was working the huddy-- he replied with slow roll on the bottom, touching everything he can, And if I am not mistaken, I believe that was caught sometime in November or the later months of the year-- DAMN GOOD STICK!
