If this is true, couldn't any random person put up a No Fishing sign anywhere they wanted? Say at the SD river for example...or on the beach at any of the local surf fishing hot spots? Maybe slap no fishing stickers up and down the rails at the Oceanside Pier? Hell maybe I'll make floating no fishing signs to protect "my spots" on the local lakes. I'll have DFW (DFG) on speed dial and just wait for someone to fish there...BOOM ticket!

Not really trying to be an *** here, I'm trying to be funny about this but the point is that just because there is a sign, it doesn't mean you'll get a ticket...

No fishing. No boating. And a legitamite penal code. Lake calaveras is illegal to fish in my book.

The sign is posted right in front on the gate. You cant miss it when walking into the lake trail.

Sounds like this place should be called "Lake No Fun". No nothing, can't even take a dump in nature there  I always enjoy reading these signs and how fishing is listed last every time.. That's always my excuse.

Actually, I have fished that lake many times over the years even going back to when I was a wee youngster and a few years back they built an insane drainage ditch right by the damn of the lake. I’m not kidding; this ditch is one of the all-time best drainage ditches I’ve seen for skating. I’ve seen some heavy stuff go down there just while I was getting ready to launch the tube. A while ago they lined the entire bed of it with gravel just to deter the skateboarders.

Well, now we either have a definite answer or a really crafty sign maker...

Way to go, Carlsbad, join the liberal law-smothering majority of this state. Seriously, why restrict fishing in a place like that. The only answer I can imagine is, "because we said so."

I wouldn't even fish here any more anyway because I'm kinda partial to my boat these days but I did before I had a boat and really enjoyed it. Why take that away from people?

I think that there's some politics between the HOA and the Carlsbad city hall. Also this is the the state of Commiefornia, where liability suits run rampant...so unless the lake is regulated and managed, not likely that anybody will ever get to legally fish there.

Yeah that seems true. Just look how many unregulated and unmanaged lakes or ponds exist without no fishing signs... Kinda disgusting actually

A ton of land has been taken from outdoorsman and given to the weekend warriors. We hunted and fished places like this for years, then they are taken away. If they are public they should be open to the public not just jogging yuppies and obnoxious mountain bikers. I don't understand why they would allow destructive bikes but not fisherman. I'm over this State. Instead of The Golden State maybe we should just call ourselves The No State.

Good point about the mountain bikers. Especially if people are worried about liability issues and what not.

I don't agree most fisherman are litter bugs. I think some are. Most trash I see is not from very skilled anglers, most probably punk kids and low life trash. Typical lake trash piles include nightcrawler containers, power bait containers, line, bobbers, split shot bags, snelled hooks, cigarettes and light beer cans. However I agree trash gets us kicked out of most places. I used to fish a golf course feeder pond. The caretaker would always come by and kick people out. We would bring trash bags and fill them up before we would fish. The guy never kicked us out because of it. He would drive up see it was us with trash and leave. He never made contact or said anything.

Sorry not on that list , my buddy and I picked up trash . After 6 young Asian / Mexican kids left . Just tossed cigarette packages drink bottles cig butts fishing line on the ground . There Geese Ducks Egrets Hawks , all over this lake . They where all of 15ft from two F-CKING TRASH CANS . When they take away all you have . Don't cry about it . Just look into the mirror and point a finger at that A-Hole .

So I figured out what kind of fishing there's to be had at calavera, now I just need to find out if it's legal or not (don't tell me if you find out, I prefer the confusion )
