Love my Mondays, San V has been very kind to me this year! Ideal conditions today, overcast with no wind..could of done without the drizzle though! Started the day throwing the fluke, picked up 10 fish in 6'-8' of water in the first couple hours, mostly 1 1/2-2 1/2 pound fish, all in 100yds of shoreline. With the overcast, I figured my fluke pattern would last all day..nope..went fishless the next half hour and decided it was time to go to my reliable pattern and spots! Old reliables didn't disappoint! Went to the dropshot and picked up 7 fish rather quickly, on a hump that sits in 20' of water, surrounded by 40' on 3 sides...nicer fish, 2'-4'lbs! Lost a really big fish..hoping it was a catfish!!! I fished the surrounding shorelines which also always seem to have fish and picked up 6 more decent fish, mostly in 10'-15' of water. I finished the day on a couple small points I like, told myself 1 more fish..picked up 5! Fun day all around, real consistent bite..helps to know the lake! Ran into Fishnfreak a couple times, great to talk to somebody that loves the V as much as I do..and he talks a little less than Mr. Vinnybass! 20210517_130656.jpg 20210517_121306.jpg 20210517_111836.jpg 20210517_092601.jpg 20210517_130622.jpg 20210517_110247.jpg oh, and there are deer on the Island again! Holy smoke what a day. I had plans to go to San V but was pursuaded to hit up El Cap instead> Got a few nice fish on the DS but the wind chased us off early. Sometimes i wish i could get a do over dammit. Congrats on the number and quality of your fish.

Due to your continuing success fishing San V on Mondays...I have a meeting with the Mayor to try to change the name Monday in San Diego for the rest of the year into "McFishday." That way when fishermen are talking they could immediately know that another darn good fish report is on it way each "McFishday." Not sure if they will go for it...you know politicians are not always thinking of the fishermen...ha ha
Way to mix it up to catch and Great job out there again@mcfish( fun pics as always!)
    Tight McFishdays! :)

Another fun day Monday for you mcfish ! You definitely have San V figured out and know the good spots. I'll probably have to hit San V one of these Mondays and just follow you around and mark waypoints on my Lowrance of where you are fishing so I will know where to go when I'm at San V. I'll be hiding behind the 1st point to the left of the docks waiting for your boat to come by, then it's FOLLOW THE LEADER. :emoji_slight_smile:

I'll be looking for ya!! There's spots like mine all over the lake, it's just hard for alot of people to get away from the bank and fish deeper. You just have to visualize what's going on under the surface, without a rock or bush on the surface to cast at! San V fishes different than most of the other lakes in S.D...more like DVL. Not everybody likes that. Actually, Murray can be like that..unless you're with Mr. Vinnybass somewhere deep in the tulles!

Yes, as Mr. VinnyBass will verify, I do tend to stay close to the banks. I'm going to have to start trying to fish deeper. Hope to see you out there soon.

Good job out there brotha! Shoulda made the right choice and went to the big bad Vee

About a week, maybe couple weeks back I saw a pack of coyotes hunting a deer on the island. About 6 of em. Was really cool to watch for the 2 mins it was happening right infront of me. Gotta love that lake......

It can be tough leaving the bank! I grew up fishing Murray back when there was no tulles, brush or stickups, I had to figure out where the fish were hanging on the points and the few rock piles it has. I think that helped me fish deeper! Also, when Murray was clearer, the fish had no interest in being shallow, a lot like the bigger fish in Vicente! It might take awhile to figure it out...but go get those fish!

Not true...there's only a select 50 baits that they'll eat on any given day!

I guess there won't be deer on the island for long! Don't think that island can support 6 coyotes for long! I don't even think I've seen a rabbit or squirrel on the island...rattlesnakes yes!

Hey mcfish.....I thought you belonged to STD....Save the Deer Organization. You should get out there and try to reduce the coyote population. You would be honored at the annual. "Save the Deer Heroes Awards Dinner" that they are holding in Maui this December. Come on and do it....you may win top honors and it would also be a good thing for San Diego.
All the members of STD nationwide would want to come vacation here and generate money for the city. You could put the award on the wall in your huge man-cave. :)
