So turns out there are carp in Lake Cuyamaca. Caught it by accident I was targeting trout with a inflated night crawler with 4lb test. It was fun fight. He weighed out at 7lbs.

See any more? They keep advertising that it's carp-ocalypse there.

I spoke with rangers there and they all say past the buoy line in that shallow area is where they hang out. Personally I never seen carp jumping around and I fish there regularly.

The lake is loaded with the pests. In the late spring/early summer, carp have taken over the south end, disturbing and displacing a lot of the bass that used to spawn there.:emoji_unamused:

Any more info on this? I've been to the lake many times but never actually fished the South end from shore. Are the carp big? I bet the lake is really full with the rains .
Probably not a good time a year to target them I'm guessing. I'm thinking of trying my luck tomorrow for a free camping trip. Were there any restrictions to use it?

I've always heard carp tasted great but never really trusted any of the waters we would target them. Might bring a few home to try.

That's a shame, especially since it was not too long ago that the lake was completely drained. Who put them in there???

Nope not full. Not even close. Came up maybe a couple inches. Went a day after the rains.
