Went out to the Cat/Raccoon Jetty this morning at 4 am and was greeted by a cat jumping across my hood and then on my walk a huge raccoon family basically stalking me. Tossed the lure about 5 am because i saw bigger things hitting the surface and first cast was on. Nice little mack. second cast....... Huge wind knot and basically lost all my braid and my lure by the time i got it fixed and recast they had i guess gone deeper or did not want the color i was throwing. On my way back up the rocks.. ate it. bashed my knee and was down.. just kinda wondering why i went out.

Came Home took a nap and re-spooled with more braid got another lure to toss and want to hit the PM session.

Anyone headed out tonight or want to come toss lures for macks? I need to fill a bucket before lobster season.

    I thought he meant skunks.....

I stay away from those Pole Cats.......Pepe le Pew!

Racoons don’t wait to be fed, they’ll open your cooler and grab what they want! Aggressive suckers!

    Racoons, Skunks, Coyotes.....

As my Outdoor Role Model once said:

You can live on it, but it tastes like shiiit!

I almost got sprayed by a skunk at Spanish Landing during a shorepounders event earlier this year. Good times. Just chilling, rigging up, minding my own business, then that striped raccoon scurries on by a few feet away.

I was at a house party in Iowa once (go figure) and they had a pet skunk. It had been fixed so it couldn't spray you. It was actually pretty friendly, kind of cat like as he would sit by you and let you pet him but if you would kind of rough house with him he would still try to spray you, just with no results.

I didn't know we had them around these parts. I had a little one dart out in front of my trail bike on a night ride through the Laguna mountains one time. He sprayed the front wheel of my Husqvarna real good. It did not wash off much at all, and the bike smelled bad for two weeks.:emoji_unamused:

My first time at that jetty freaked me out. Try this one night, shake a paper bag and watch the cats and skunks come out the rocks. Pretty crazy to almost hand feed a skunk.
