Child Camps

No worries… This has been cleared at the highest channels. AG Jeff Sessions said as much last Thursday in a speech where he quoted scripture:

“I would cite you to the Apostle Paul and his clear and wise command in Romans 13, to obey the laws of the government because God has ordained the government for his purposes, “Orderly and lawful processes are good in themselves. Consistent, fair application of the law is in itself a good and moral thing, and that protects the weak and protects the lawful.”

But this is just another distraction... Can we get back to what's really important? Like, Hillary's EMAILS!

 

Yeah, there really just isn't any defending this. I'm all for strict enforcement of immigration laws, and tightening them even more in some cases. But! There are better ways to handle the children involved. The parents *are* still violating the law. Long and short of it, violating a law tends to lead to a stay in a detention facility. But thats the parents. Now, the kids? Why not foster homes? For the kids who are still breastfeeding, separation from the mother is never a good idea. I know a law is getting introduced to stop the separation, but lord only knows if that'll pass. It should, reasonably, but you never know.

 

It's a win-win-win situation for Trump.
Since no one wants to see kids in cages like animals with no food, water, heat, toilets, medical attention, education, he'll get his immigration reform - including the wall. Trump wins.
Now, if congress doesn't get the votes it needs, it'll be because democrats won't vote for bills which include a wall. Trump's benefit - getting to blame the dems for hating the children and not fixing "their original laws" - Trump wins.
If all else fails, laws don't change, and he's still getting the heat from public and media he just gets to fire Sessions, (which is the wildcard he's been holding in his back pocket for 1.5 years now) and will look closer to a hero since Sessions is the immigration bull. Trump wins.

That all said, I still think all politicians are absolutely taking advantage of this situation and using the kids for their own gain (re-election/popularity). Of course no one actually wants kids detained away from their families, even if they're not blood relatives - each other is all they have, they're desperate people. It's sad. The politicians are grandstanding (see Juan Vargas yelling at the pres and looking back to make sure the cameras are on him, then continues to yell) to show their constituents that the really do care. Mother Fvckar if you really cared you'd introduce a bill, c'mon now.

 

When you break laws and include your family in your act, things can get "inconvenient" at best. No simple solutions. There have always been detention centers for children orphaned by crime. Next usually comes placement in homes of relatives or foster parents. None of this is ideal!

 

What would be your plan?

That photo has been debunked, but there are real photos out there. It's horrible for the kids . But comparing this to what the Nazi party did devalues the horror and evil of that time.

You know it'll just be something temporary. He wants legislation.
Give me the wall, I'll give you the kids, maybe even throw in the DACA folks. I'm willing to bet my best reel on it.

Detain both or don't detain? My questions are to emphasize that this is not a simple problem.
