Been watching boat counts lately and noticed chubasco's been killing it. So decided to hop onboard for a 3/4 day with fishB4work and man was it worth it. Pretty much non-stop action for first 3 hours. Filling bags with assortment of rockfish and sculpin. On first drop I landed the biggest red of the day. Picked off 3 more decent sized reds during those first stops and an assortment of little guys. Just before we were about to change gears and target something further south. I hooked into something big. Fought the whole 300 ft up. Turned out to be big ling. The tape on boat only went to 28 and it was well past it. I'd guess at least 32in. Down south there wasn't nearly as much rockfish but captain said he saw plenty of whitefish and it was time to fill bags. Change to smaller hooks and smaller bait. We had brought some shrimp so I was just tipping my hook with small pieces of shrimp and pulling up whitefish on every drop. We ended in shallows near kelp before calling it a day. Lots of rentals out on our trip but pretty sure we helped fill their bags too. Captain Sean and deckhands were super helpful and would definitely go again. Only thing that could've made the day better was a jackpot. Would've been nice to end with extra cash on hand. Can't win them all I guess.
