Saw this headline on the news this morning. Wasn't really listening to what they are saying -but I can guess they are saying we are all going to die - which is true - but they probably mean in a more Hollywood way.
Anyway - what's your take on this? Do you think there is a serious issue with our climate? Meaning do you think our climate is getting worse where there will be bigger hurricanes, more fires, more droughts and more flooding?

Do you think we can actually do anything about it?

Well, I mean, sure we could do *something*. Convincing China and India to actually not emit a ton of crap into the atmosphere would probably help a whole ton more than anything we could do here in the States. On the other hand, it just takes one nice big volcano blast to pretty much do more in a period of hours than we would do in centuries.

Scientists pretty much unanimously agree climate change is real and is impacting our weather. The changes in water temperature and atmospheric temperature are too dramatic for it to be just natural changes. I honestly do not know if there is much we can do about it though, hopefully yes. We certainly have to try and I agree with other posters we have to collaborate with other countries on this.

Last night on the tv news there was a marine biologist from Scripps talking about micro plastic and the damage that it causes. She said that it comes from our clothes, bathing suits, and wet suits among other things.
She said that we should wear clothes made of cotton or silk because it's biodegradable.
Now I guess that I'll have to get rid of my polyester suits in my closet. LOL.
The list of things that are destroying the planet is endless. I think that it's a plot from the pharmaceutical companies to get people depressed so that they can sell more antidepressant medication.

Pollution is bad . Clean water is very important. Cow farts are not responsible for climate change.

Ohhh I completely forgot about China and India. I guess when "we" is mentioned, they should be included.

For a second I thought the suggestion was going to be we should all be naked when getting in the water.

I guess I could've done better saying what I meant to say lol. We as in the USA actually do try and make an effort. China and India both really just don't give two hoots. They could have a bigger impact, all told.

Only if you swim in them! That's what Leisure suits are for!

I will never lose a second of sleep over Global Warming or Climate Change or whatever they choose to call it next. God's got this! He made this planet and everything that lives on it. It will last just exactly as long as He intends for it to. Gonna be some rough times! You can read about it in the book of The Revelation.

The US is only accountable for 15% of global emissions, so even if we dramatically reduced emissions, it's not going to change much. This needs to be a global initiative. And reducing emission is not enough, we need to start reversing the effects, not just mitigating it. Technologies such as space mirrors, cloud seeding, and algae farming have been proposed.

The planet's not going anywhere. It will be here long after we humans have all killed ourselves.

This will never be the case! Some drastic changes are in this planet's future, but the final outcome is good. I have this on the Highest Authority.

The earth has gone through periods both hotter and colder than this, no matter what you feel like believing. Whether science, religion or (good luck to you) philosophy is your faith of choice, earth has been hotter and colder than this at some point. I find it amazing how all this pansy azz hand wringing, hue and cry, hoopla etc is all over a degree or two, according to the very people getting paid to raise the ruckus in the first place, the same ding dongs talking about the ice age, etc. Look, the earth will get hot, and cold long after this chunk of molten iron shakes it's fleas off into space (or not). Economic downturns, heat waves, bad presidents, even whole civilizations come and go with hardly a blink...

Imagine what a metric ton of plastic micro beads looks like ?...

Another ironic but true vantage point is how much pollution has been generated in recycling. I’m talking the process of shipping our dirty but seemingly recyclable material overseas to have them burn it down or worse, reject it and send it back...

IMO - the damage and loss that’s already occurred is gone for good. I wonder how many centuries it would take to restore the ice melt, after the warming conditions have been stabilized.

Werfless is right on the money...the earth has experienced ice ages, then extreme warming that thawed the ice age, volcanic activity that produced more "green house" gases than anything humans have or are currently producing.

It is all a cycle that repeats.

I for one don’t dispute or contest that it’s cyclical, just adding that humans are exponentially accelerating the process
