Mother Nature has been caring for herself - and doing quite well - for how many years? Millions? More? She seems to have a knack for being able to repair herself from damages - both natural and man-made. Seriously, what else needs to be said.. other than...

I believe in taking care of the planet:emoji_earth_americas: - in all the obvious ways.. picking up my own trash - and the trash of others unfortunately, etc. It's really a bummer that not everyone before, during and after us feels the same way about that.

But ya, lets ditch all air travel (except for politicians, of course), fossil fuels and tear down all the buildings in the world to make new ones that are - what did AOC say - I forget..:emoji_joy: but she said it, so you know its gospel. The Green New Deal carried on the back of the next Democratic Presidential candidate.. coming to a town near you. It's not so much that AOC believes her own shyt.. its that her sheep actually believe it, too.

I wish that I could find the article from a very long time ago but I can't. So you're going to have to take my word on it.
    So here it goes.
After a fire there was a study on two streams. One stream had people clean it up. They removed items that were in the stream from the fire. The other stream they left it alone. The one that they left alone had more life in it then the one that they cleaned up after a period of time.
I'm just talking about bugs and things like that.

First off I was refering to a volcanic eruption not venting. Also over two decades they have seen a six fold increase in volcanic caused CO2.
Also individual CO2 molecules cycle in an average of 3 years not 1,000 to 2,000 years. That would be what it would take to scrub the majority out of the atmosphere if we could stop the total emmisions of CO2.

An open letter to President Obama in 2009 just prior to his travel to Denmark. And here I thought it was all a “Chinese hoax.” Silly me…

Way to bring Politics into a science thread, there are extremes on both ends of this diving board, no ?

I'm not talking static individual molecules in a control room.

~60-80% of Atmospheric CO2 mass will dissipate or be absorbed in between 5 and 20 years; environment considerations taking into account. Since gases are not removed by singular methods or processes, cycles to process the remaining 20-40% take considerably longer to breakdown, resulting in studies recording a timeframe between the upper hundreds to lower thousand, in years.

I'm talking about an article probably 40 years ago or more. Funny how we remember things from a long time ago. Anyway the stream that they didn't touch out performed the one that they did clean up as far as coming back to life in a shorter period of time.
From what I remember it wasn't man made trash in the stream, just debris from the aftermath of the fire.
Mother nature has a way of healing herself in certain situations.
It may of been that the upper part of the stream was left alone and the other part was cleaned up. I can't remember all of the details exactly from that long ago but I do remember the results of the study.

old_rookie, I found this article. It may be of interest or not.
    Footnote:
The last page is what I was referring to about removing debris from the fire.

The AGW movement is pure politics and profit. Notice one political side is advocating taking the world back pre combustion and petrolium area. It is more then that. The AGW movement is purly about pushing a global socialist agenda. They vilify progress that non socialist nations make by labeling it as evil and immoral. They push the agenda that America is great because we tool advantage of minorities and we are destroying the planet. That way they can say the only reason capitalist nations are more successful then socialist nations, is because they are evil. There are Also hypocrites like Al Gore who makes money by using the government to force businesses to buy carbon credits that he brokers for a small fee.

The whole issue is we are already so regulated while India and China pollute away. Meanwhile the world vilifies us for our success and demands that we do more. Right now we are the tiny leak that the world is focused on while ignoring the gaping holes that are India and China.

I will agree with you, but the argument really shouldn't revert to "well they're doing it, so should we..."
They are a huge part of the problem both rural and urban. You should see how toxic India has made their major waterways, even those they consider sacred.

Personally speaking, this issue is above any political affiliation for sure. Yes, the Earth warms and cools in cycles, however those cycles historically have taken centuries or eons for significant measurable changes to occur. The cadence and rate of change has been exponentially accelerating for the past century. I guess we can wait and see how accurate scientists were in 2005, given their prediction of complete melt of Antarctica's Larsen-B ice shelf in 2020; its disintegration was driven by warming currents - supposedly.

I'm unbiased and have no familiarity of AGW, If I take time to look the group up or their agenda, I'll most likely shudder them from my purview as I do many things that lean too far from the center.

AGW stands for Anthropogenic Global Warming (man caused global warming).

i was trying to be funny/sarcastic to make a point of how sometimes trying to do good ends up with just more problems.

No problem, I was just trying to find something to back up what I had said.
I didn't want people to think that I was saying something just to say something. LOL

it must be the union workforce, being incompetent in the USA, our EPA, are untrained idiots , the equipment they use dont work. china, mexico ,india have more health and safety standards then the US. they have zero emission standards. Mr.Trump gave all the corporations a 20 percent tax credit maybe for training . the thing is all the trucks in the us are made in Mexico now. when do we see the cheaper prices. im sure its 70,000 to built a vehicle now.
the only way this will change is vote with your wallet. quit buying everything you see.

This is really a serous thing Daniel! I just read where the warming water near the North Pole has caused a different strain of algae to grow on all the oysters and clams. The walrus are ingesting this algae and it is causing high levels of gas. The walrus farts are so bad a yellow slime forms on the surface of the water and leaves a ring on the Eskimo kayaks. The used kayak dealers are about to go broke because nobody wants to buy a kayak with a yellow scum ring.

Mogambo .. that is pretty amazing.. the whole thing that boggles my mind, is an event is on the horizon, one we could prepare for. One we could use our relative wealth to help ensure there is a human race left and possibly more capable of taking to space. Or maybe we will just keep buying in to the nonsense, feeding the machine that is killing us and turning out kids into mindless, apathetic zombies who couldn't fight their way out of a wet paper bag, nonetheless take the beach at Normandy. Revelations might be accurate after all.. if these kids' kids don't just all die off because they become so lazy they can't even raise a glass to their lips... Then again
