They say global warming cause they recorded temps 50 years ago in a city... now that city has more people, buildings, asphalt, cars and less exposed dirt/ground... of course the ground temp will go up.. Also if you look at science the earth also tumbles while turns... so eventually the equator will be like the north and south poles

And in California they will pay us to remove the grass and replace it with artificial grass and cement. Then cry about global warming.

The good news gentlemen is... even though AOC claims otherwise, the place isn't going to implode in twelve years. The other good news is, if it ever does, you and I will be long gone. End of story.

Big article in todays, Sunday, UT San Diego paper about climate change. Talks about where carbon offset money is going, and other items.

Can you summarize where the article traces the funds to?

Sorry, I don’t subscribe to the LA Times-Tribune

No problem, we have to go somewhere in about 10 minutes. When I get back I'll take pictures of the article and post it.

The whole thing is a joke to me - not any evidence that proves the change in climate (basing my evidence on seeing pics from 50yrs ago glaciers were bigger) is the joke - but that the joke is those who say we need to do something or else suffer the consequences. Yet, so many are doing nothing about it - and the majority seem to not care, or claim to be doing something about it. For example, that teen activist Greta Thunberg sailed to New York emission free - yet she was posting on social media during the sailing time (yes, that is little power, but the batteries had to be charged by something, and there are computers running to host the social media site, and those computers are run by and cooled by electric running devices which are probably burning fossil fuels), and Team Malizia had to fly to NY to pick up the boat. They said her and her father saved fuel emissions by sailing instead of flying. Here's the link from the abc new site - Technology which has been removed it seems.

The key is that we should always be responsible enough to be conservative as practical with our resources or we’ve only got ourselves to blame when they’re depleted.

There really is no feasible way to have a zero carbon footprint.I get that the carbon offsets are supposed to be routed to fund conservation projects, but like any fund programs; given time they will be exploited - time over time, that's been the human way...

That being said, I've visited a few "zero waste" facilities in Ireland and it was remarkable, seeing the contrast between there and the manufacturing facilities stateside.

Am I reading this right? Is that article implying that money will make everything better? Pay me some more money to offset my harsh and rude behavior, please. I'd feel better about myself if someone would just pay me some more money.:emoji_joy:

Don’t think I’m following your assessment of the article.

The Offsets were intended to help fund ecological programs, some in developing countries, which would have had trouble finding capital. According to the article that Larry M provided (thanks, btw), it seems that these monies are also flowing into projects that would not have had issues being conventionally funded.

I’m guessing the value of the offset a company can utilize is relative to their C footprint.

I think this is something we’re just gonna have to ride out and see, it’s like skin cancer; damage has already been done in the past.

The only thing that can be done now is slow the affects experienced in the future by today’s behaviors.

If the climate is in a serious trouble then we should ban air travel. I don't get it. The AGW cult thinks taking money from a profit generating, job creating, service providing industry and giving it to projects they deam important is going to save the world they are full of it. Anyone with half a brain can see this is socialism being forced down on us in the name of being green (the new red.) If these industries are truly destroying the world in such a rapid manner then we need to force them to stop. Problem is the Hypocracy of the AGW cult knows no bounds. The thought of giving up air travel or any modern convenience is unbearable to them so they make up this scenario that as long as those providing them with these modern conveniences pay a fee then everything is fine. They can continue to pollute but they get to feel good about it while lecturing everyone else on how to live there lives. I don't see Al Gore living off the gride, no actually he owns a few high energy consuming homes that he travels to on a private jet. Two legs baad, four legs good.
