    Hi All,

I am looking to start up a performance fishing apparel brand and wanted to pick brains. I’ve worked in technical clothing for the past 20 years and to create clothing in my chosen passion is something I’m really looking forward to doing. With this in mind can as many of you partake in giving me ideas for what tech they would like to see in fishing apparel, or anything which would make there time fishing more comfortable of something you wish could be made. All comments are very much appreciated.

    thanks,

    jamie

What is technical clothing? You don't mean tactical, right?

Hi Kciuchta, technical in the materials and methods of garment construction, but tactical in the what the garments do for sure.

Fishing shorts with pliers pockets but shorter 16-18" length option.

    Tanks and muscle shirts.

More Aftco Ninja style tops in a slimmer fit.

Kayak dry pants in a slimmer taper.

    Spotted Bay Bass prints!

Shorter inseam shorts for sure. Being "height challenged", I look like I am wearing capris and coupled with deck boots, like I have no calves! Plier pockets are a must as well plus maybe one other pocket. For pants, I prefer the fishworks style with elastic waist bands as they can be worn over said too long shorts

Long sleeve SPF shirts with and without hoodies. Maybe SPF fishing gloves/driving gloves for those of us fighting skin cancer.
Boat shoes and shore pounding shoes with good traction on rocks.
Good luck with your new business.

A lightweight weather and splash-proof shell for surf fishing, kayaking, paddle boarding etc....at a reasonable price point....
(but there are thousands out there..wait for it)
    ....in actual human sizes.
There are none available with neck holes larger than pencilneck sized. I have bought several from online sources and had to return them. I have shopped in stores. Some of them marked XXL and XXXL have neck holes that I can't even get on past the crown of my head. I wear a size 7 1/2 hat. And my most recent purchase (and return) fit over my head (barely), could be worked down over my chest to my waist....but holy hannah the arms were like 6" too short to actually allow a paddling or casting motion. "Shoulders cut roomy to allow movement" my ***.
Find a 6 foot guy who weighs 230 +. Or ++ in my case. Doesn't matter. Measure his freakin' neck. IT'S BIGGER THAN 16 INCHES. Check his sleeve length. IT'S LONGER THAN 34 INCHES.
    Sorry.

And don't know whether this fits your concept...but I haven't found any swim fin leashes that fit around my ankles....very well. The only leashes that are even close have a 2.5 inch velcro closure...of which 1/2 inch is actually engaged when fastened around the tops of my neoprene booties.
    Rant off.

Yes . I wear work uniforms all the time. I would buy a Chinese made uniform shirt, hell, pants too, made in lightweight, UV resistant ripstop military BDU style fabric without 5000 pockets, extra drawstrings, etc.. would be comfortable, wearable and UV resistant...

I completely agree with the length of the shorts. I’m big into better fitting garments, so it’s good to see many of you guys making that point. Ninja style tops is a big one and we will make sure they are the best on the market. The idea is to make sure we have the most comfortable apparel with the best performance capabilities, we will also be making some great prints which are not like every other brand out there. Thanks very much for your comments.

understood. We are looking to make our apparel in the US or somewhere closer to home but without the US prices. This way we can ensure quick development, fast turnaround, and most of all good quality. Factories in and around the US are very competitive on pricing vs Asia as import taxes are extremely high from China. Thanks for your input and and comments around what you think is needed.
