Hey guys... It seems to be a huge PITA finding info about what i need to go fishing at the islands.. Wondering what is ACTUALLY required to have on a sport boat for a full day. I see some places saying a passport is required and some saying an FMM only. How should I go about getting all of this before going to the islands? Seems like I have to get a passport, go to the office to get my fmm stamped, blah blah blah.. Everywhere I read something different. How do you guys go about getting the proper stuff.

    FMM Visa

These can all be purchased at the landing with the exception of the passport.

Instead of a passport you can also use a passport card as well.

If you are going on any of the full day boats, they take care of everything except your passport.

You make your reservation, pay half, show up with your passport (or passport card, which is what I use) and pay the other half of your fare....if you already have a mexican fishing license, they will deduct the cost of the daily mexican fishing license from your trip fare.

Then you go fish...easy peasy....calling the landings wouldn't be that hard to get the info you need, they are the ones doing the trips ;-)

You should have a TIP as well for your boat. This is in addition to the Passport, FMM, Mexican Fishing
License for anyone on your boat even if not fishing and the Biosphere Brachelet. Anyone on board needs this stuff. Your TIP is just for your boat and is not transferable.

I got my passport card in less than 2weeks. Filled out the paperwork, took my pictures at Costco and submitted it in person at the USPS office in mission valley. Was the only person in the office that day. In and out of the USPS office less than 15min.

I agree with DPevin. A passport or passport card is all you need to bring with you if you're going on any of the full day sports boat, and money ofcourse. They take care of the rest, it's all included on the trip.

Rude Baits As an office worker, can you tell us what Is needed for a full day trip to the Islands and what wouldn’t be needed? Its a FMM, Braclet, and Passport in top of the ticket price, correct?

All a passenger needs to check in and board one of the sports boats through a sportfishing landing is a valid passport or passport card and money. An open party ticket cost includes all the documentation you need to fish legally in Mexico. The landings issue the FMM travel visas, Mexican fishing permits and biosphere bracelets directly to the boat and Mexico. You can obtain a yearly Mexican fishing license and biosphere document online to help reduce your ticket cost. All travel visas must be purchased directly through the landing and are processed via an electronic banking transaction and receipt directly to Mexico. Landings do not stamp travel visas as a direct electronic purchase is the only acceptable form of a visa for the sportfishing fleet as per an agreement worked out with the Mexican government at this time.

All of these rules and regulations are per discretion of Mexico and not company policy as the landings have had to unfortunately turn away hundreds of passengers and thousands of dollars over the years due to the passport requirement. If you want to play, you have to pay and a valid passport is a must. My post does not in any way shape or form constitute any type of legal consultation. The overall sentiment of the landings and fleet is that we are fortunate to be able to utilize such a valuable resource and will accommodate Mexico's requests with out any deviation in regards to this issue.

I suppose, but why go through the hassle only to have to go through the process, cost and time again.

Remember, the Passport Card is only good for Land and Ship travel. Not air.....Better to get the Passport book versus the Passport Card alone......

You never know. I got both!
