Hit the beach yesterday at about 7am with the mom. Made our way past the letters in the sand and pick a spot. Second cast she lands a nice 16" bean, from then on it was a hot bite till about 10am. We had multipul fisherman on either side of us after about 20 min of catching fish. They started closing in to about 20' either side of is, they still didn't seem to catch a thing while were just pulling em up every couple minutes. One guy was getting so pissed he started smacking the water with his rod, he took off lol.
Ended the day with 3 perch, 3 nice beans and 10 YFC between the two of us. Brought 1 YFC and 1 bean home. All caught on drop shot 1oz pyramid and a gulp sand worm. Even had a fun double up. Tight lines yall!

Nice catches always a good day when the bite is non stop. Are you jigging the worms or just casting and waiting? I’ve always wondered same with the Carolina rig gulp sand crabs?

Sometimes it will drift with the current, I'll just cast against it and basically drift my bait until it gets too far. Sometimes it will just stay put, I dont jig it. The surf gives it all the action it needs. I prefer it when it stays in 1 place.

I had really good success with carolina rig at Coronado with sand worms. I would cast and just let it sit there until i get a bite. The one detail that seemed to make all the difference was casting distance. Once the waves build up, you have to get just beyond where they break (cleaner water) otherwise the bait gets taken for a ride sideways and closer to shore and no bites.

Can’t have a better day than that, do you know how you found the hole or did you get lucky, either way did you take a picture for yourself so you can try to duplicate the same? Congrats on the great start to a great Memorial Day weekend.

I use live sandcrabs if I can find them. But if they aren’t around... Those gulp sandworms are killer in the surf. The haters will hate.
