A year ago in December at Murray, I was pulling out bass(some nice ones too) out of the tulles on Tokyo rigs.........and even last year on Dec. 2, I caught some. But today I worked my butt off and only had one dang bite in them.. .covering lots and lots of tulles. I was getting pretty cranky and was so shocked to finally get a bite on a Tokyo rig with a pumpkin ribbon tail worm, that I pulled back too quick and let out a few choice words I learned from mcfish. Continued the tulles for a while which was even more upsetting without any more bites. Then looking at pics on my phone I also saw some bass I was catching on spoons during the same time period the past few years. I started working a spoon and even found some shad balls down deep or was my Lowrance just messing with me to keep me out in deep water... ha ha Anyway while working a spoon I finally felt something and wouldn't you know it....I foul hooked a small bass in the side in 42' of water. I unhooked the poor guy and I think he will be fine. After much more of nothing....I finally tossed plastic worms, craw baits etc on a last ditch effort looking for any type of action.
I finally went to a small 4" Robo worm(yes mcfish...that same X-mas holiday color that you like) and after tons of casts, I finally got bit and pulled in a tiny dink and it was time to get the **** out of there. Maybe the water they are mixing in there has put the bass on lockjaw, but I still will be back to try to get some of those nicer bass I caught last December.
If not......I may soon be on fishing float using meal worms or red worms looking for other action....ha ha. (nah...being a bass only fisherman, that will never happen......or will it?)

You know fishing is tough now when even the V man is struggling.

Oh....I forgot to mention that when I got to the lake at around 7, I was the only boat in the entire lot.
I should have taken that as a hint that the fishing has been pretty bad. Only one other boat launched during the time I was there. It would have been nice if it was mcfish with some meal worms.....ha ha

Well, I think that should settle it. ROBOWORM FTW! LOL!
Sorry to hear about the grind, but at least you were fishing. Better than a hundred one things I can think of.

With the Q mussels in there the Redears are growing quickly. While they will never be as big as Largmouth, you could get a 20 pound limit of these great eating fish. 1/3 of a Nightcrawler on a Dropshot works, Crickets are better, and Shell on Shrimp is gaining favor. The larger Redears mostly mimic Largemouth in their habits. Similar areas. Great sport on light line when the Bass are MIA.

Its funny as I remember going up to Miramar in the 70's and catching good sized Redears. There my favorite method although cheating a little was using a fly rod and hook a garden worm on a fly and after it sank of course...they would slam it and they sure did fight.

I thought you told me you toss them on your Malto meal because they taste so good together.

    Pass.

    …for now…

Apparently, Bill Gates wants us to eat bugs. Think he will forego Wagyu?

Sorry for steering your thread in another direction VB. BTW, I love that Vinny’s smile is bigger with that dink than in his avatar photo with that trophy lunker. It’s the journey, not the end, right? LOL!
