First time here. Just moved down here not too long ago and found out one of my favorite online tackle shops is only 40 mins away (last chance). They recommended this place.

Not knowing what works out there, I just threw what I knew. I chucked a triple trout and started winding. After the first cast, I heard a blow up and turned around and threw it in the direction I heard it from. A few winds later and it bit. Nice keeper stripe.

Awesome nice work. On my way there right now. Hoping for my first striper today. I always do what you did when I hear the blow ups but no luck yet.

One bite today on the baitsmith mag in about 15 feet of water off a main lake point. Not really a hard hit, but when I set the hook, whatever it was took off taking drag that was basically buttoned down. My knot failed after about 15 seconds and there goes $95 and a brand new Mag. I’m just going to hope it was a decent striper or flathead and not the largie of a lifetime.

That’s what I use! Probably just a bad tie on my end from rushing it. Felt like I was on a yellowtail for a second. Oh well. Next time. Just ordered another mag haha

By the way, I heard them taking in the concessions about rewards for killing stripers starting in January. DFG wants them out of there they said.

We prefer concessionaires conduct a raffle format where all fish brought to the concession, regardless of size, gains eligibility for a prize. Big fish contests limit participation and incite cheating as the contest progresses. In this case, the raffle also promote take of a species that are detrimental to the health of the fishery. The marina should be doing a raffle for stripers for some sort of worthwhile prize starting in January.
