One of the reasons I usually fish barbless . Have had more than 1 trip to the MD that I couldn't get out . All self inflicted at least . WR

That’s a good idea most of my lures are barbless from when I pinched them down from my last Barrett trip much easier to get out of the fish and of course your own self, I’ve learned that lesson twice now and I’m not going for a third.

But see, when I lose a big fish due to going barbless, I'll probably stick myself with a hook anyways so its the same difference:emoji_wink:

Fly fishing and small lures it really doesn't seem to make a difference . Never noticed a higher loss ratio vs hookups . Larger stuff I still use the barbs unless required by law to go barbless . I do switch out trebles to singles nearly 100 % . Last trip to the docs I nearly lost my left pinky , the hook penetrated through the joint of the second knuckle , didn't want to come out and not in an area that could easily be cleaned after removal . For those of you like me who run the hand down the line to grab/ control the fish , Don't do it with the rod loaded , it really flies when the fish spits the hook . WR

I’m with you on single hooks, trebles are just to much for me handle, nicer in the fish too.

probably dodged over 200 crank baits over the past 50 years. Like 30 in the shirt, luckily only 2 in the skin

My younger brother was being careless one time and yanked a heavy jighead out of weeds really hard and that sucker came flying into my face like a bullet, Thank God I had ESS crossbows (ballistic sunglasses) on or my eye would be missing... Scary sh*t. Any times i've caused this to happen i have been able to dodge it.. But when someone else makes a lure to fly at you when your not paying attention it's a whole different story.

Tough to dodge in a tube! I try to anticipate the trajectory, should the snagged lure Become a, eh... trajectory.
