308FCCEF-4261-4E22-94E0-928369A465B0.jpeg had the pleasure of meeting up with twnoel111 this morning for a clinic on dropshot at Tamarack.

Beautiful morning. Cool but no wind. Water was calm on a 2ft slack low tide. No veggies in the water.

Got coached up on the setup and technique. Set up my white 3 inch Kalins grub off we went. Back to back small halis on the first 2 casts! That’s one heck of a teacher right there!

Broke off on a snag, then after retying, whoomp! Third Hali of the morning and the biggest of them at about 20 inches.

Great morning! I’m a dropshot believer now. Many thanks to twnoel111 for showing me the ropes on that one.

3/4-1oz dropshot weight with a dropper loop about 12 inches above. Use a swim bait of your choice but the halis seem to like white Kalins, Zman, or gulp mullet. Bouncing the weight along the bottom on the retrieve.
I’ve been so hung up on Carolina rigs I hadn’t put much effort into drop shot in salt, but it is indeed an effective method.

Dropshot works everywhere, although I have yet to try it in the surf..What size line are you using?

Main is 10# PP super slick 8 (only braid I can tolerate, casts a mile) 20# flouro leader (probably a bit heavy, but it was that or 8#)
