    Dear Anglers,

Round two of the El Cajon Ford Day Series saw a spike in participation and some impressive catches at Lower Otay, Feb. 17. A field of 37 teams hit the water and found a mix of patterns producing bass averaging at least three pounds for the top nine teams.

Taking top honors on the day were Rich Welch and Chuck Miller who put together a bag weighing 17.21 pounds good for $2500. According to Welch the team relied on a Carolina rig and caught their winning fish “early.”

Close behind, despite a blown motor, were Chip Gilbert and Lester Albury who used their lack of mobility to “slow down,” noted Gilbert. Like many of the successful teams, they went to the worm and it paid off with a catch weighing 17.04 pounds, topped by a 4.62-pound largemouth. Their efforts were worth $1200.

Third place was another powerhouse team, with Carl Limbrick and Aaron Seay busting 16.85 pounds, topped by a 4.95-pounder, good for $600. According to Limbrick, the pair went to the back of Harvey Arm early, but could only find small fish. Adjusting, they found post-spawn fish willing to take a dropshot.

Biggest bass of the contest went to the team of Cameron Rodrigues and Wes Zimmelman, a husky 6.49-pound largemouth. The combination of big bass and fourth overall finish earned the pair $1000.

Jon and Wade Strelic rode the second largest bass of the day, a 5.54-pounder to an 11th place finish and rod and reel combo valued at $250.

We would like to thank all the teams that participated in the tournament and supporting the El Cajon Ford Day Series. We want to thank John Blake & Paul **** from El Cajon Ford for their continued support of the San Diego Team Series. Without their support, the El Cajon Ford Day Series would not be possible and we can’t thank these two individuals enough for all that they do for the bass fishing community.

If you looking for new or used vehicle please stop by EL Cajon Ford Dealership and ask for Klayton Belden he will take care of you. Please keep in mind, that El Cajon Ford has the Quick Lane department, so if you are in need of an oil change or a new set of tires you can stop by and they can get this done while you wait. For more information regarding El Cajon Ford Dealership please visit their website at www.elcajonford.com or give them a call at (619) 579-8888.
