This is my 1st fall season here in SD and the past couple of weeks I've definitely noticed a slow down in Spottie bites from multiple shore locations in the SD bay. Is there a fall pattern for them, spawning, deeper water etc? Im always up for a grind but its been gettin tough lately :emoji_grimacing:

It's been like that in alot of places... They have been retreating because of the water cooling down. Just out of pure speculation the spotties would probably be in the south parts of the bay where it's warmer.. Don't quote me on that, just an educated guess.

As November disappears it will pick up. Winters always best imo. Freaks will come out at night ;)

Good observation..I've noticed a slower retrieve with more pauses has worked well lately

100% agree. Many moons ago when I fished salty, winter was usually some of the best spotty fishing to be had all season. I would take a break from freshwater from late Nov- Jan and just concentrate on tubing the bays. Great night bite for sure.
