Probably Dixon and wholford are going to be the closest and then of course oceanside can be great too. The one nice spot that we used to go to is officially closed for fishing.

There are a few ponds that locals may be able to help you with but its been many many years for me.

I was exploring yesterday and discovered Sandra Creek, looks like a river down in the valley. Talked to 3 guys had fishing gear they said they catch carp out of that creek/river and there are swimming holes there. I had my kids one of which is an infant and didn’t wasn’t prepared to hike along a river but it was pretty crazy and surprising a lot of water flowing through there. There weren’t any signs anywhere saying no fishing allowed so I’m gonna go back and check it out. Has anyone ever heard of that place?

I grew up next to Dixon and fished all the Esco lakes my whole life. There has to be some fishing holes in the area I just need to find them.

Update on Sandia Creek is actually the name of the road but it’s the Santa Margarita River that flows right there.

Haha it’s pretty safe to assume no fishing at any body of water around here. Gotta adapt and become ninja fisherman

There are no fishing signs at entrance to the river trail where the bridge goes over on Sandia Creek Road. Talked to the ranger there a couple of months ago and he said no fishing in the creek and not going to be open in the foreseeable future. Still see people walking in with fishing gear every time I hike there. Used to be a nice place to fish. Google Santa Margarita River for info about the closure.
