    Had a great time catching yellowfin croaker and a walleye perch with my youngest son yesterday.

    It is a sand crab rake/sifter. I kick sand into it as the wave recedes to find elusive soft shells. I made it from a plastic crate and PVC pipe. It is lighter than metal and is going on its 3rd season. I usually fish with it next to me with one foot inside and sift with each wave until I have enough crabs. I also added a ruler decal on the side to keep me honest :)

    Nice; probably easier on the back than constantly bending over with a scooper.

    Exactly correct! Some say it is cumbersome to carry, but it really isn't. The built-in ruler helps photos too.
