    Hello!
The stars aligned! Knocked the dust off the yak and away I went. On the water 5am, stopped fishing 7:30. My mirage drive was acting up and then I saw the top cable breaking!

Suffice it to say I limped back to the launch at Kellogg’s. Has anyone seen a break in this spot? Seems a strange location for such wear.

Oh yeah: 8 fish total, bass trifecta, 2 legal sandies harvested.

Even though they are stout looking cables that is a very tight radius they operate in . Lack of lube ? Cable liner failure if supposedly lube free ? I think I would replace all if it it where me. And + 1 on a paddle for backup . Thanks for the report . WR

Dang!!! I have never had a problem...but it shows that no matter where you are you never know what could happen. I only fish the lakes, but I always have a paddle with me. I doubt I could ever get back to the boat dock...so I always carry my cell phone...ha ha
That was not a way to end a fishing trip. Thanks for the report and I will check my cables before I go out again.....hopefully next trip your pics will be of the fish. Tight lines to ya. :)

Yes, mine rusted in about the same location. My drive was over 7 years old. Sprayed exposed cable and chain after each session. Not much you can do for the enclosed cable, in my opinion. Had Fastlane replace both assemblies. Kept old functioning one for spare. Thought it was worth the price after my bro tried to replace the assemblies himself.

Mine did the same thing, same place. Easy repair with replacement parts available on the internet. By the way, this particular problem doesn’t shut you down. The flippers still work, the idler pulley just help equalize the power to the flippers for smoothness.

EXACTLY. Mine did that as well, same spot. Took the cable off, took it to Fastlane, quick and easy repair. I think it was $12 or $14.
