Last time I took my bro in-law fishing, I got skunked and he landed 5 nice spotties. Went out last night and the tables have turned; bro: 0, me: 3 corvina and a needle nose! I just want a session when everyone catches, but that’s just how it is.
Fished from 9 pm-12:30 am in MB.
Caught on 3 different lures: IMA Skimmer, Sammy and Lucky Craft.
Smallest was about 18”; largest was about 20”.

I'm not sure if it makes a difference, but I noticed a lot of people who posted their top-water catches, they had their lures on a snap swivel or something. I put one on last night and caught... most probably it was more because of the crazy amount of bait fish and boils. Maybe someone here can here can explain if the swivels make some difference or not... but it is very convenient and fast to switch lures with.

The only reason I use a snap or a swivel is because when I try to Palomar knot over three trebles I hurt myself.

You don't need a swivel. I know a lot of people who use a round snap instead of a split ring.

No issues with a snap swivel but one concern with using is that the knot may become worn out over time. I like to direct tie to the hook so that I know I have a "fresh" knot for the session. Snaps are great if you plan on changing your lure out multiple times to get a sense for what he fish are eating that day and then moving to direct tie once dialed in. If using snaps just make sure to check your knot periodically for wear.

Angler clips make it very easy to change out hardbaits in half a second. I swear by them.

Nothing wrong with a little family competition, as long as no one takes it personal. I need to cross Vampires off my bucket list. Can anyone give me Buffy’s phone number?

My bro in-law was excited just to see me land the 3 vinas in person. Witnessing the size and power these fish have, the splash and havoc in the water... he was happy to be there.

I have not been on the sight for that long but that is the first time I remember seeing someone post 3 in one session. Great job.

I'm not going to ask for your secret spot, but what general area do you fish topwater in MB. I only ever seem to catch topwater stuff in SD bay.
