Grabbed this guy on a 7'' swim-bait. I was worried because i had a lighter setup looking for bass and the seals were being seals. later in the day my girl decked her first YT, bagged it on a swimbait. Also lost a massive YT at the boat due to poor deckhandsmenship. 20200701_161353.jpg 20200701_161353.jpg 20200702_152810.jpg 20200702_152814.jpg 20200702_152814.jpg 20200701_192233.jpg

You’re killing them! Try baking the wsb completely slathered in mayo and Parmesan cheese.

Everything seems to hit the swimbait.
Yeah...I should have given a formal block of instruction on using a gaff before I got bit by a cow. Ended up passing the rod after one failed gaff attempt in order to gaff it myself. I should have know better and just let her try again or held the rod and gaff. That momentary lapse in tip tension gave the fish the confidence it needed to bolt and cut my line on the engine mount.

Were you out there with another small boat? With the guy that landed the little YT on the iron in the same spot?

Ha yeah dude. I was on my skiff with 2 my buddies, dropped trolling motor and started throwin irons. Our buddy was on his little whaler w his girl doing same thing. We left after my buddies yellow got taken by a sea lion at the boat so we chased it down, with no success, so we just took off for back home.
