Any suggestions on a fish finder around $100? I have a prowler 13 if it matters.
Probably something not to complicated, not much experience with fish finders.

I'd spend the extra $ for the DSI version. HUGE difference.

Usually, there's only a $30 difference in price, this time is double. Might have to wait a bit for price to go down.

I had a Garmin Striker 4 mounted on my old kayak that was given to me.. Its $119 but it is SUPER clear and it could give me an accurate read on structures down 750ft of the LJ canyon. You can also track and mark locations, and label areas (convenient if you find a rock-pile or some structure with fish on it). The upgraded version has this chirp sonar that will literally give a perfect outline of kelp stalks and fish, but its $180 I think, but if I had the money I would mount it for sure.

x2 on the Garmin. I had a Garmin for a while, then 'upgraded' to a Lowrance because I wanted the GPS - now I can barely read the display whenever the sun is at my back. Didn't have the problem with the Garmin. And now I see they have color for $119 !!!

I have the Striker 4dv and if i am correct west marine has them on clearance. Clear display and great split frequencies. Easy to use and mark point on the gps.

If your going to fish mostly lake or shallow water the DSI or chirp versions work OK. If you're going to go out on the ocean and fish La Jolla than the DSI won't be good choice and the Chirp is so so in deep water. I still prefer the image on the Lowrance HDS5 and on my Lowrance Elite 7TI I prefer the sonar screen over the down scan.

I agree the down view is is awesome for the bay and I use traditional for lajolla and ship wreck alley. Although I've only been once to both
