If you want some flatfish for dinner, just find a mud ledge in 500 feet of water... Will have to put some rockfish back, but you will find the flatties if you work at it

Keep grinding with big baits. The legal will come soon enough if you keep hitting mud ledges like Werf says

If I find a ledge that goes from 359 down to 500 I can catch rockfish off the front and flatties off the back?

Too steep.. fish the flat part in the deeper water.. if its flat enough there should be Petrale sole, plenty of bigmouth sole. Quite a few Greenland halibut and "non sand dab" flatties too if you know where to look. Hate to say, the old fashioned sand dab is actually pretty tasty if large enough...

Oh yeah.. and don't have rockfish in your possession while you are fishing too deep..new regs say 450 feet or something for rockfish btw.
