    I've never seen smelt that large before. I also caught one larger than the one in the pic

    Werfless ever harvested roe from these? Or is that a different type of smelt roe on sushi menus...

    I have seen some loaded with roe. I would not eat anything from our local smelt, they all carry a tin of spiney headed worms

    Definitely a smelt. Correct me if I’m wrong but I think JackSmelt have a yellow dot near the ear and topsmelt do not. Seems like JackSmelt are usually the bigger of the smelt as well.
