Other rare catches... or at least I think they are rare lol... Trigger fish... yellowtail.... sheephead.... and now that I look up I see yellowtail mentioned of course lol. I've seen sheephead caught near the coronado ferry landing towards but past peohe's in kelp.

Saw a young deckhand get stuck once at the coronado islands... it wasn't pretty. I think sculpins are possibly the most common bottom fish to catch?

Using the pictures on the first page as a reference, is this a salema? It has thin, rust colored stripes running the length of it's body in case you can't see.

They are the California State Fish, brother. Illegal to catch and keep. If you catch one on accident make sure you release it.

Is that a real Black Sea bass? In the bay? Uh, yeah, I think taking them out of the water is illegal, with good reason, they're critically endangered.

Golden trout are the state fish. They added Garibaldi as the state "marine" fish a (relatively) few years ago....

I saw a guy pull up a grey trigger fish a couple months back. It was fairly large in size and I was walking buy when he pulled hit up... he thought it was and "ocean blue gill"

After laughing extremely hard, I informed him it was a trigger fish or as I like to call them, the red neck fish because of their teeth!
