What's your take on fishing apparel? More specially, store shirts, bait manufacture shirts, boat shirts, etc. Do you wear them? Do you think you should have a general skill set to wear them?

I have a few Bass Pro Shop Shirts. My wife gets them for stocking stuffers for the men and boys of our family. Do I think I need to have a special skill set to wear them? ...I have a BPS shirt that says “I’m a hooker on the weekends”. I guess you could say I do.

I wear the HUK long sleeve shirts in the heat. Lightweight and keep you cool.

Go to Coolbar for "sun shirts" that are healthier for you than sun screen.

I better pipe in on this. ... First of all, I am an avid bass fisherman. I have a Ranger boat now and had another one years ago and do not see a problem with wearing a Ranger Boat's hat when I fish. I think they make a quality boat and do not think anything bad about wearing something that supports their product. I really like Ranger boats and of course catching bass out of them. :)
I also wear Tackle Warehouse shirts because of their great customer service, great selection of tackle and the fact that they provide me with things related to bass fishing that I want(not always need..ha ha) and it comes in just a few days to my doorstep so I support their business. Heck...I think another box just arrived now...ha ha
I have BPS shirts also and that is just something just more casual to wear. My girlfriend loves to go up there to check things out and eat in the Rancho Cucamonga location about once a month. In Vegas...we have stayed at the Silverton Casino which has the BPS connected to it our last 6 times now(averaging 4 nights 5 days per stay). I guess I sometimes just grab another shirt here and there through the years to knock around in. Honestly....when I see a guy wearing one of their Bass Pro Shop shirts I do not think of any type of skill set they may have when it comes to bass fishing. It is just a cool casual shirt with the word "Bass" on it.
Hey cavedog619 ....there are some funny shirts up there eh?

I've been wearing the same Cabela's cap for... a... decade I think? Also have a 3/4 sleeve Cabela's shirt I don't wear often. About the only outdoors related gear I even own, let alone wear. Surplus stores were my go-tos in my teens for stuff like that lol

I wear the free stuff I get from tournaments. I rarely purchase any because I have more important things to spend money on. However, one small company I support is Urban Angler USA, out of CO, because the owner is a cool guy, I like what the company stands for (they also repurpose littered tennis rackets into nets), and it's a kick-*** logo.

I wear mostly Pelagic(75%) and Aftco(25%) and never have paid retail. I look online for deals and stop by the Pelagic Costa Mesa store quite often. Pelagic now has a store in Solana Beach a few doors down form Pizza Port. Kill 2 birds with one stone, beer and more swag. I was down there on Saturday and picked up a few "essentials" for this season. Most of the store is 25-60% off right now with some amazing deals to be had. I am not affiliated with the store but have become good buddies with the owner (Big AL) from his days of owning the Excel.

PM me and I will send you a discount code good only at the Solana Beach location that is NSFW

Many years ago I got heat exhaustion fishing lake Hodges. Began changing the game plan on carrying water, clothes, hats etc. The modern Hi tech stuff works. Currently using Columbia omnishade pants with a UPF factor of 50 and my old Cabelas Guidewear shirts with UPF 50.

Proved on the rivers of Guyana and in the 100+ heat of the IV.

Do yard work in Columbia PFG shirts to keep from burning up.

Simms guide shirt - love the pockets (license, keys, small spool of line) and the button up sleeves (that stay up even when wet)

I like UV blocking long sleeved lightweight sports shirts and a broad brimmed hat for shade.
No experience or skill sets necessary.

Skill set? I usually put my head through the big hole, then one arm through each sleeve. That's all you need.
I buy tee shirts from fishing websites or events that I like (sdfish, shorepounders, scsurffishing).
I have a bunch of ZOOM hats because they fit my fat head and cost <$3.

EXACTLY! Why make life more complicated than that?
(PS - the collar label goes in the back)

    Good to go!

I have a few of the first two runs of SDFISH UV shirts that I wore but they are all worn out now. I keep meaning to buy shirts and hoodies from the boats and landing that I fish but I always forget about it at the end of a trip. I would wear a tackle company that I use but I figure they make enough money and I'll save it for the boats and landings.
