Liked and commented. I drive that spot everyday on the way to work and never thought of fishing there.

Many big number nights at the first spot next to fish market, love fishing the shelf to drop at that corner. Lots of halis there.

Once you cast from the corner diagonally towards the bow of Midway, you can see the difference in the line count. Making me wanna go lol

Technically where he was at is a no no spot, but it’s legal along the sidewalk as you’re facing the Midway.

Now I haven’t been there in a while, but the no fishing sign as I remember it is here:
    CB26EA8C-EE86-47F0-90C7-74A521DB29CC.jpeg A0A04FDE-4495-4BE4-80E7-6882CF8FA070.jpeg

I know things have drastically changed there since I used to frequent it, but I can’t imagine them removing no fishing signs, only increasing them as they did on G st. Pier and the side facing the commercial boats. They’ve slowly taken away more spots for fishermen, Grape st, along what used to be Anthony’s, and around Broadway pier. MB for me. Free parking, 70% accessiblity, less numbers more quality, for the most part.

Oh wow thanks for the info! Ya, i can live without fishing that 15 ft of extra shorline, definitely looks like a nice place to try though, much appreciated

Nice vid. There’s some tank spotties right under the pier you were walking on. I’d be too scared to fish there during the day.

Tanks there for sure. Sand bass mainly but this time of year they are hefty. They’ll be a few fat grumps too ;)

I didn't even know there was no fishing signs at the corner! I'll be honest guys I got REALLY lucky yesterday...As we headed off the road/dock a guy said hi and asked if another guy gave us trouble...We said what guy? He said the DFG was walking down toward us but maybe they didn't see us? We saw them as we walked out, and I BARELY caught the meter maid walking to my bumper for license info and she luckily didn't not give me a ticket. I could have walked out of there with probably $500-1000 in fines. Don't be stupid like me, don't even bother during the day.

By the way, has anyone ever received a ticket for fishing in a no fishing zone? Whats the fine like?

I’ve heard a couple different numbers. $75-$160. Could be more or less, I’ve never been cited so I’m only going by others words.

Just got my first warning from an angler to “stay off his docks”. Another shining example of our friendly local fisherman here in San Diego. I know, nobody said I had to make fishing videos, just trying to have some fun here.

Last year I fished the midway when I needed to break out of to many skunks in a row and I have to say I never any legal s there but I caught at least one fish every time I went there and I fished from that corner all the way down to the main side walk, cast out to the ship let it drop to count of 10 and retrieve it worked with gulp on a 3/8 ounce and Texas rig .i never had anybody stop me or tell me to stop fishing.,

Wasn’t trying to bring a dark cloud lol, just putting the info out there. I still fish many no no areas. It seems every other year a little bit more is being taken away. So I’ll keep doing so til I get that friendly visit.

If you have a kid with you you can get away with pleading ignorance and just trying to teach your kid how to fish. There's a certain "waterfall" with giant bluegill, bass, catfish where I employ this method. Use those little kid setups for full effect.
