QUOTE="B8DHOOK, post: 798272, member: 14340"]Good stuff.. And good luck to you guys out there. Definitely post up a report from out there and some fish / scenery pictures. I’m also curious as to what you guys use to catch those Lake Trout and or Browns.[/QUOTE]

Sorry about the delayed response. I got buried with work when I came home, and I responded here because I did not want to hijack the thread. I am also new to SDfish, miss fishing in SD, and you guys are my only connection to fishing the area for now. So, I did not want t catch slack for stealing a thread.

Flaming Gorge was a great trip and beautiful. My fishing plans got a little sidetracked. I told my grandson who recently turned 16 to drive the boat. From there the trip kind of turned into tour/fish Flaming Gorge, which was just fine. This is more of a scenery report than a big fish story. We did catch 25 rainbows like these, but nothing to bragg about.

My photography or these pictures does not do the area any justice. It is much more beautiful than these show. I am only allowed five pictures. So I will have to add a few more from our previous trip. We fished a little more on that triip.

Flaming Gorge is fed from the Green River. About six weeks early, I took my boat to the Green River headwater. Green River Lake is a glacier fed lake with a natural dam, not man made like Flaming Gorge. It is magnificent up there. I certainly plan to fish there early spring right after ice is off. I will share some of those photos later in this thread. Yes. You are right this is God's country. I am a willingly transplant from Colorado. Though I long for the days in my youth fishing off the cost of SD with my dad and brothers. I will be back late summer for ten days.

The Green River is one of the main contributaries to Flaming Gorge. The head water of the green river is considered to be the Green River Lakes in the northern Wind River Range. This is one of my favorite place. These picture were taken in late October. I certainly plan to be there again as soon as ice is off.

Beautiful shots. I spent many summer weeks back in the 90's fly-fishing below that dam. Dutch John. Spectacular, world-class fishing for some big trout. Also, some more recent trips with the family out to Red Canyon Lodge. Highly recommended.

Floating the River below the lake is 100 Rainbow/Browns a day C&R with a barbless minijig. Brown and black bicolor was the best by far.
