Took a vacation from the clouds in ohio and drove to Florida to hang out with some friends. They took me out on their jon boat first day in the little manatee River and the many tributaries feeding it. It was low tide, probably not the best time, but hey any time on the water is already good. The three of us fished a trick worm, Senko and ika. It was a solid hour or so before the first one came onboard on a senko. Little over a pound. Just couldn't figure them out! To be fair though, we were very limited in our selection of lures. But there's always a willing senko fish laying around! After that, another lull. We started heading back to our launch point. At this point we were 3 hours in with an average of a 1/3 of a fish per person. The boys decided on one last stop b4 calling it. It was a big wind blown cove that was facing directly into the wind. As soon as we rounded the bound into the cove, we hear a breaker somewhere. Hopes get nudged up. One buddy gets hit. I decide to change my cadence with the senkoright then and there. Began working it really aggressively on top. Like baitfish skipping presentation. I cast on shore and began retrieving through the shoreline cover. Something came after me and swirled on the senko. I killed it and, PRESSURE! pushing down on me... okay sorry that just popped into my mind. This bass put up a good Florida strain fight to the point where I started getting nervous it was going to come off somehow. Well got here in, and she settled at 4-6! Stoke level went sky-high. Whats even cooler is I had actually unlocked a pattern where I scored 2 more! 3lner and 1ber. Other boys couldn't get the cadence down and I felt bad but they did manage one more fish regular senkoing. I also lost 2 or 3 because of the not so ideal presentation for the presentation. (Weedless senko with point exposed, but still not like a treble or fully exposed hook bait). So that all happened in about a half hour and we were able to end the day on a very high note. That was day 1. Hope we can get some more good days in b4 the trip is over. Tightlines SD!

Nice healthy looking fish, love the color. It's got to be nice to get a break from Ohio weather spend some time with friends and catch some fatties to boot.

Is it true that Ohio is hi in the middle and round on both ends?
