Just a friendly reminder to everyone to be vigilant on your sun protection while on the water. Went to the dermatologist this week and had numerous precancerous spots hit with the nitrogen treatment. Arms and ears and I'm not even fair skinned. Mothers side of family is Italian. All the years on the ocean and lakes never gave it much thought. Be extra careful.

I do the same with the UV long sleeves shirts on road trips.
Long sleeve cotton t-shirts for everyday wearing. Or a longsleeve UV shirt with a regular t-shirt over it. I have a floppy hat on the porch that I put on, even just to go out to the mailbox.

I’m starting to wear a UV hoodie when on the boats, may even have to take up Coach’s Couture with regards to neck and face

Relevant to this thread, salt armor has a sale on UPF sleeves, something like four for 12$ shipped to your door, quite a few designs available. I am putting an order in later today

Golf secret?;) 6 Basel Cell and two Squamous Cell removals... so far! Bad thing is, I asked my Dermatologist what I could do about this now. He said nothing, said the damage was done years ago. So this warning goes out to the young ... who believe themselves bullet-proof! BTW, while you're at it, quit vaping and smoking! Wasted breath, I know!

The retort I often hear is "everybody dies of something". True enough, but not everyone dies coughing and gasping for air!

Hmm. Yeah, the damage is already done, but being sunburned is less than fun.
No-Ad brand sunscreen's pretty good and far less expensive than brands with big ad campaigns.
Their 50 SPF sport stays on pretty good (I sweat like a pig unless I'm blls deep in the bay)....but this year they I saw something new. No-Ad Naturals. The one with zinc oxide. It goes on smooth but it's a little chalky..."sheer" doesn't mean "clear" so smear on a thin coat unless you like prison pallor.
The best part is that crap doesn't sweat off.

Nute, what's up brother. Haven't had a chance to throw the baits yet because my back has been barking and last week starting having upper back issues. Had some imaging done this week and waiting for results. Afraid to throw the big stuff right now with these back issues. MEXICO getting close. And yes I want the shad bait if still available.

How do those sleeves compare to long sleeve sun shirts as far as staying cool?

I’ve been told some of these new clear spray-on sunscreens aren’t as effective as the regular zinc oxide versions.

If you as your skin doctor to write you a prescription for long sleeve shirts I believe you can write that off as a medical expense.

As far as sunblocks go, they provide protection either chemically or physically, as is the case with the Titanium or Zinc oxides.

The typical sunblocks require your skin to absorb the chemical after say 30mins, which in turn alters the UV that your skin is in contact with and disperses as heat energy.

The chemical products are easier for coverage and reapplication, but personally I prefer to use upf or uv blocking products.
