Wonder if they would enjoy the flavor?? I've heard it's pretty off-putting and slimy/sticky, but never tried it myself.

Well then, I'll try it. How can I get some? Surprised they aren't "harvesting" them more and flooding the market to get people to try/like/buy it. Talk about extreme supply. If they got a whole nation to buy Pet Rocks, they should be able to make people eat Asian Carp. Make them into frozen fish sticks, the kids will love it. Maybe pay a Kardashian to eat it for publicity??

They have a y bone and makes them difficult to fillet to boneless.

Supposedly they taste great. I'm pretty sure in their native range people eat them. Maybe learn from them.

They are testing to see if they are safe for lobster bait. If they get the go ahead lots will get shipped to the east coast

Hell, I think they should get the lampara nets out and rope all these "undesired" species, turn them all into fish feed pellets. Use em for protein supplements for more desirable species in aquaculture, fresh or salt..

And by assist I guess they mean "place many of them into small pools and do fun shows". Finally got some justice for those tortured Orcas but they skipped over the rest of the creatures being exploited.

The rescued animals are actually returned to where they came from unless it is determined that they would not survive in the wild by multiple sources from my understanding.

This rescuing of sea lions is anti nature. Nature is killing them off because there are to many to sustain. They need to allow nature to take it's course. If they keep it up, what is the point of the MLPAs if a overpopulated sea lion population is constantly being aided by man. Predation is the first tool nature uses to thin the herd, next is starvation then comes disease. Sea world needs to stay out of natures way and let it take it's course. Nature is harsh but effective at managing itself without human interference.

I think the first step is to abandon PC crap from PETA and to have the courage to start using openly a proper language to describe the problem and its natural solution.
Regarding the out of control population of these water-based coyotes it is irresponcible for humans to remove themselves from the natural predators chain. After eliminating all land-based predators and cruitically reducing the population of GWS that could control sea coyotes population humans are responsible to step in, not out of control population to be left only to be controlled by hunger after exhausting the ocean resources. Therefore, there should be an open season for hunting them just as for any other land-based wild mammal species that are very far from extinction. This is not funny but a serious proposition. Have the courage to start this dialogue, reasoning is on our side.
I believe we should start vocally criticizing also city council about Children's Pool iissue, Sea World, Scripps Institute, and even DFG for one-sided interference with the sea life leading to growing unbalance. How many of the little WSB hatched and grown at the hatcheries can make it to grow legal before they become victims of the sea coyotes? And MPLA? Perfect nursery eventually to sea coyotes. MPLA idea is fine but not without control of this voracious predator. Did you know that typical daily limits for a sea coyote can be 75 lbs fish? In fact, part of our license fees goes to feed and grow further their population thanks to mismanagement of the marine life from all the above institutions.
One more example how even well-intended initiatives from a government frequently can lead to unexpected and detrimental consequences.

Orcas seem to like them. Sharks also. Any Eskimo’s out there that have tried sea lions and seals so we can get a comparison. Maybe your local state or federal representative could find the funding to do a taste test study or better yet how you could feed them something to make them sterile.

Oh they are being harvested. A couple of big Chinese owned factories in Kentucky. There is just wayyyyyy too much of them to put any kind of dent in the population. Guess that’s good. Endless money supply right?
