Just wondering when y'all are going to start asking where that $50B (billion) gas tax that was implemented several years ago went to.

    Stealth technology. Must be.

I certainly can’t see all the infrastructure upgrades.

What infrastructure upgrades? Oh... the ones (we) cant see. I agree.:emoji_joy:

I just think its so strange how no one really says anything about it. We just "do" whatever we're told and eat whatever we're fed. Kinda like... sheep. We're, "sheeple." Ya, that's it !

my understanding is that the gas tax, which has been in place in some form since the 1920s, is supposed to go toward road/highway maintenance, development, and upgrades as well as other transportation initiatives. Historically the legislature can borrow from it for other purposes but is supposed to pay it back. I think there have been changes to make that harder to do, but Gov Newsome signed a declaration to redirect some $5B to climate change programs last fall.

While I mentioned stealth technology in jest earlier, in my travels up and down CA over the last few years I have seen some major highway and road updates. The two biggest I have seen are on I-5 through the Central Valley and around 99 and 58 in Bakersfield and around 58 and 395 near Kramer Junction. Also the 163 and Friars Rd interchange in Mission Valley.

However the government being the government do not doubt there has been considerable inefficiency (being kind here) with respect to usage of the gas tax funds.

I just renewed my yearly registration fee for my old 1936 Ford pickup truck. Gavin Newsom has jacked that up to ridiculous levels too. WTF are we paying so many taxes for? Why has bloated government made it their job to take all our money and suck the liveblood out of us? I also had to pay a 20% penalty for being a few days late. Scum-suckers!

The governor doesn't care about what the people or the gas tax proposition said he'll still will try to do what he wants.

Go to Midway Drive and in particular the section crossing Rosecrans, then you'll see all those "infrastructure improvements". Then go to W. Point Loma Blvd Eastward crossing Adrian Street. Just one line left for not surprisingly clogging traffic on this "boulevard" with the others two taken to make "bike path" (the pretense..." and parking for the adjacent apartment buildings. Yeah, "infrastructure improvements";) To me, clear corruption of the local authorities by the buildings management that made this mess.
    That's RINO Falconer legacy.

I've been told the reason the gas tax goes up is partially due to the increase in electric cars - they are not buying gas, but still use the roads.
