Any decent carp fishing there? Not sure what is good this time of year from shore.

Yes they have carp. Supposedly they have so much they have a bounty on the them. Free camping or fishing if you catch one.

I went this last weekend, there must have been 200 fishermen out there. It was wall to wall.
Biggest thing I saw caught was a 6" bluegill.

Was out there beginning of October, not a single bite - was fishing for bass though (I was probably one of the only people not fishing for trout that day). As for the carp bounty, didn't see a single carp on the island, buoy line, rock wall area, or camp sites. They normally go shallow around sunset, but nothing I saw.

Since we can't chum in CA I'd imagine they are probably wherever people are feeding ducks and they just pick up the scraps of bread that fall to the bottom. That said, I'm pretty sure you can still pack bait here. Been working on a carp / bluegill dough that's working very well at my local pond maybe I'd bring some to Cuyamaca if it wasn't so far away.

I fish cuyamaca a lot and have never personally seen one caught or swimming. I tube a lot in the hallow end too and just haven’t seen them like at Morena. I believe they are there. What I have seen is huge breaches by sturgeon feeding at the surface, pretty insane.

They are everywhere...particularly in the South end. In summer they are very noticeable.

Lake Morena carp are very plentiful and are easily caught from shore. Some reports here:
