I hear Slaters 50/50 is awesome with 50% bacon making up the patties, never been though.

    J&Ms family restaurant in Escondido.
Not bad prices and good size portions.
Lots of old people like me eat there, 50's music in the background.
Liver and onions and their fish and chips are my favorite. Their steaks not so good.

I don't know if you were just talking about hamburgers.

It's cut fairly thin. I usually don't finish everything so I have left overs for lunch.
They get you on the drinks, ice tea is almost 3 bucks. LOL

Hodads is still great. Slaters has really gone down since it changed owners years ago. Only reason to go is for happy hour beer prices. Hard to ruin good beer.

Slaters changed up how the menu works a while back, and they kinda lost some originality. That said, greasy AF. And beer out the azzhole. Cheapest price I've seen on a pint of Horny Devil in town, including at Alesmith's taproom lol

They also dropped the food quality. Know a couple cooks that had worked there from the beginning. They definitely have some great beer still.

Yeah, noticed that too. Streamlined the menu, and it showed. Haven't been back in a while, just can't justify the cost of the food for the quality anymore.

Jimmy's Famous down on Harbor Drive. Also Vine Cottage in La Mesa has great burgers, not exactly a greasy burger joint vibe though. Nicky Rottens as well

Fred’s is gone in El Cajon but the original one is still here in alpine. Pretty amazing. They have a TrippLe paddy bacon mountain burger that’s awesome. And a great fish sandwich.

There was a thread awhile back about where to eat.
Last year we drove up to get a Nessy turkey burger and it wasn't as good as before. I believe that I read an article in the paper back then that the children of the owner had taken over. Wife and I felt that the quality just wasn't there, people next to us had the burger and felt the same.
Just my opinion, your mileage may vary.
