Learned a lot on this trip, and the value of a light outfit that can fling a small bait far away.

The ride out was good. There were 45 people, but it wasn't that bad. Majority of the people are communicating and the crew did an awesome job. Will definitely go again on this boat in the future.

I hooked into 4 and caught 2, all on a Dorado looking jig, about 90gs. On the first stop and the very first drop, I got bit but I didn't set the drag right and snap goes the knot to the lure. Due to my excitement, I tied on another and same thing, I forgot to loosen the drag (20lb line, or maybe it's my knots) There goes my lucky glow jigs. Towards the end of the day it was pretty much finesse fishing, size 4 hooks, 15-20lb line and you have to fling the bait far or get a really good one that swims far. I could barely cast out with my xh and h graphite rods. So there's that, lesson learned. Still a fun trip. And don't forget sunscreen or your face mask, my face looks like a cherry tomato now. I have some meat on the freezer and time to make some Sinigang. Planning to head back out again on November.

    Nice fishing...

I know Sundays fishing offshore are long days and you just want to go to bed, but damn, at least trim the blood lines out before you vacuum seal them. Did you filet those your self?

I did. None of it will be turned into poki or sashimi. It's all going to be cooked as Sinigang (cooked in a sour soup base, usually tamarind). Been having it this way since I was kid and it doesn’t taste fishy at all.

Investing in a 20lb set up for local waters is never a bad idea.

What brand line are you using? And what type of knot?

Do you wet the line with saliva before cinching?

Were the mornings better than the later part of the day, how was the live bait, do you think lures or jigs would be better, I’m going Thursday if anybody else is going let me know?

I don't think I wet it before tightening it. Majority were caught later in the day. My buddy got his limits of YF on a colt sniper.

Got to wet that line specially fluorocarbon before you cinch your knot. If the line is dry, the friction of the line being cinched will heat up the line and weaken the knot. Next time while you have nothing to do, try tying some knots both ways-dry/wet- and you will notice a big difference in the breaking strength of your knot.

Next time you tie the sd jam knot, ask someone to watch you do it. Might find that there's a little mistake in how you do it.

I will, I thought I was tying the Alberto knot correctly until my friend saw me do it. Lots of lessons in this trip for me.

Still got that 8' honey seeker 196H 15-40 still available that you were interested in! It's the perfect live bait flinger! Soft fast tip with huge heavy backbone. Also great with the light irons. It's mint
