Disc golfed at the butt crack of dawn so my buddy could play before he had work downtown at 830. It’s nice to get out that early and then be downtown early enough to grab a bite(haha). Fished midway as it’s been great, started on the dockside off the rocks...two casts in pitched it to a piling and sure enough drop shot paddletail got a nibble...my drag was a bit loose but not too bad, this one just fought really hard!!!

I’d say it was legal but who knows I never measure. Moved to the front of the midway after that and got 3 more grumpy dudes! At one point a guy walked up and grabbed the fish from me, we had talked previously about how they aren’t legal until 14” but he really wanted to see it. I told him careful the gillpalte and spines will get ya, and they did haha. He thought it was funny but I wouldn’t have been so stoked! I asked him to toss it back and he did. He then showed me fish from his country in Afghanistan and we chatted a little, nice guy.

Well I had talked to him because he saw me catch a fish and throw it back, in my last video a coworker of his asked me the same thing right next to midway “why did you throw it back?” So I talked to him about how they have to be bggger to be legal and they don’t taste good(I don’t know haven’t tried lol)

So on my next hookup he comes over and the spotty was flapping around while I waited for it to chill but he just grabbed it lol. It was funny but I warned him right away, I should have taken a pic of his hand afterward cuz he was bleeding good :/ he learned his lesson the hard way and then threw the lil guy back. We chatted some more, talked about his favorite fish to eat...good talking.

Just got our first ghost shrimp today and I hooked up with him 3 minutes on a nice YFC..then with our ghost shrimp we proceeded to hook nothing from 1-3pm. Overall a good day!

Run the hook from the tail up through the body and let the hook point exit the side of the head.. takes practice, but they are deadly

So I wasnt actually too far off, I would hook em tail end through what seems like their stomach but a few of em died what seemed like instantly doing that....Is dead ok?

Reading up on all the old threads of ghost shrimp, I love it! From ten years ago, someone said fiesta island was good and with every cast we hooked a YFC haha, not the same today but very similar ten years later!

Also someone mentioned using a bobber, we had em on dropshots...I saw a comment that said use copper wire through the hook eye and after baiting twist the copper wire around the shrimp...any thoughts on that?

No need for all that... Split shot rig, knocker and Carolina are classic ghostie rigs for a reason.. I like a really short spider hitch with a bead on a modified knocker/Carolina rig, personally

It works... Remind me to show you a simple Carolina, but short more like a knocker

best style hook i've found for fishing ghost shrimp....stick the point in the last segment(underside of tail) and slide the bait around the bend of the hook and up the shank. The hook point goes into the under side of the body(hard spot where the little"legs" are). Use a lob cast with ghost shrimp....a soft throw with a high arc.https://www.basspro.com/shop/en/eagle-claw-lazer-sharp-kahle-up-eye-hooks

We've been pumping at fiesta island yesterday and today at low tide in afternoon. My buddy got a bunch today before I even got there, we setup everything and not one fish for 2 hours. We tried hooking em all different ways and even tied em on with 4lb a couple times...The water was murky, I got bit on a swimbait a couple times and that was it.

Were gonna grab more shrimp and take them somewhere else next time.
